Not for the faint hearted

Brought to you by

A true backcountry epic, this challenging 65km loop around Advance Peak takes in some serious elevation gain, technical single tracks and steep descents through some of the best terrain beyond Macetown and Skippers. Two batteries or a lunch time charge are a must!

Start by following the Arrow River towards Macetown passing multiple heritage sites from the gold mining era as the trail steepens up the Rich Burn before tackling Advance Peak at 1749m – the day’s biggest challenge. Over the saddle, the poled route skirting Mt Saint Just provides you with an exhilarating downhill rush through the tussocks (make sure your brake pads are fresh for this ride).

A packed lunch and sports drink will be provided at Strohles Flat where we’ll have a generator to give your battery a one hour boost (give us your charger or provide us with your second battery and we have it there for you).

Return to Skippers Saddle via the historic Skippers Road, then drop onto the Coronet Face Water Race Track for your final descent on the recently upgraded Bush Creek Trail. Back at the Fork & Tap a beer and sausage sizzle awaits you and your team, leaving a big smile on your dial.

DETAILS: Leaves Arrowtown Saturday at 9am. ETA back at Arrowtown around 4pm – Cut off at Strohles Hut 1pm.

Own mountain e-bike required. Numbers are limited. Lunch included while batteries are charged or changed. First battery needs to be at least 600w/hr and carefully managed.

Ride elevation 2400 metres. Grade 5 Expert. Not for the faint hearted! 2 x APHEC Medics on ride. If you arrive late at Strohles Flat we will get you a ride out!
