The Queenstown Trail Trust are currently supervising the build on the much anticipated Coronet Loop Track providing a stunning 57km circuit through Greengates, Deep and Coronet Creeks. The track is anticipated to be completed in 2022 and we have an exclusive sneak peek at the progress.
Trails Trust CEO Mark Williams (Willy) will guide a small group of ten riders out and back on a four hour ride to showcase the progress so far. This ride, in conjunction with QEII Trust and Soho properties will be auctioned. Proceeds from the ride will be used for ongoing maintenance of this trail.
We’ll provide transport from Arrowtown to Skippers Saddle for the start of the ride. To get the adrenaline flowing, a descent of the superb Grade 4 Pack Track and Sack leads into Long Gully before a steep climb up to Greengates Saddle.
A long descent flows past Greengates Hut and the remains of the old Greengates Hotel above the Deep Creek confluence.
Another short climb leads up to an amazing viewpoint at Picnic Rock, with incredible views into the Deep Creek Canyon far below with Vanguard Peak towering above.
After refreshments, we’ll head for home, retracing our steps before climbing back out of the Skippers Road through Hells Gate.
Pickups will be available at Skippers Saddle for the return trip to Arrowtown. (option to ride back via the Water Race Track and Bush Creek for those with enough energy/battery)
Tell your friends, this is not to be missed – numbers are strictly limited to ten.
Riders depart Friday 12:30pm from Butlers Green. Own full suspension e-bike needed. Only experienced riders. Grade 4. APHEC Medic First Response on ride.
